Isaac Cuenca trained with the group for the first time on Wednesday. The loaned out player from FC Barcelona made a good impression straight away. With several beautiful shots into the upper corner, the Spaniard made his calling card known. Cuenca arrived in the Netherlands last Sunday. The 21 year old forward underwent the medical examination with no problems and received his new shirt on Tuesday from Marc Overmars, director of football affairs. Due to the winter weather conditions, Ajax practiced in the covered miCoach Performance Centre at de Toekomst. In terms of the temperature, Cuenca was able to pretend he was still in Spain. He didn’t meet all of his new team mates during the training. Several members of the selection (among whom Daley Blind, making his debut for the Dutch national team) were absent due to interlands.
